The March Nationals at the Manchester Velodrome are always a big event for us here in the UK. We look forward to this competition each and every year. Plus all of the interaction which we have shared across our social media channels on Facebook, Twitter and here on our website has been outstanding. We can see how important the This Girl Can campaign has been to so many cheer leading teams across the country. It is a fantastic ongoing event to be a part of and we encourage you to keep on sending us your fantastic images from training and competitions. We know there will be plenty more #ThisGirlCan at the Manchester Velodrome very soon indeed!

Team UKCA.

The UKCA is in Northern Ireland this weekend!

Today we are all systems go at the Antrim Forum in Northern Ireland for the Antrim Primary Schools Festival! This event is happening throughout the whole of today, we can’t wait to see all of the cheerleaders, coaches and supporters at the event. This event is an important date in the calendar for us here at The UKCA. The majority of our cheerleaders are based in England so it can be difficult for us to arrange large events of this scale in the area of Northern Ireland. However, we do ensure that we have events which run there throughout the year, so this Festival is a wonderful experience for us to get our young cheerers together and have a fun filled day.

Due to our lack of high numbers of UKCA members within Northern Ireland we recommend that if you want to run a course or complete more UKCA events & educational based programmes, that you set up a course in your area. This is a great chance for experienced coaches and members to up their skills and take on the challenge of running a UKCA course themselves. It’s brilliant to be in control of your own training and you will be able to create a fantastic cheer community in your area. Please find all of the information for setting up a club or hosting a course in your area here.

We can’t wait for all of our events in Northern Ireland and will be adding as many events in that area as we can.

We are proud of you! Team UKCA.

The UKCA across all Three Home Countries!

UKCA has held courses up and down the country. It’s brilliant to be training so many UKCA members and helping them to improve their skills. Holding courses in England, Scotland and Wales we’re so happy to see so many cheerleaders, coaches and members here in the UK. With plenty of training and education courses across all 3 of the home countries we are very proud to see so many cheerleaders mastering their craft!

All of the courses which we are holding across the entirety of the United Kingdom mean that we are sure to be impressed with the cheer talent at our competitions. With the Northern Ireland National Championships only 1 week away we can’t wait to see all the new skills put into practice! There are many UK Cheerleading competitions which take place throughout the year, we’re also looking forward to the championships in March – how could we forget? Make sure you purchase your tickets for these events (if possible, as some are just available at the venue box office on the day) to ensure you aren’t disappointed!

Winter Championships Review

The UKCA Winter Championships 2014! This weekend brought around our highly anticipated UKCA Winter Championships at the National Cycling Centre, and what an event it turned out to be!

Saturday kicked off our final UKCA Comp’ of the year with the typical skill and cheer spirit and it carried right throughout the weekend. As we have come to expect from our cheerleaders we were treated to some fantastic performances and with the raw talent of our competitors noticeable on both days of the competition. We’d like to offer our congratulations to all of the squads who took part and say thank you for making it such a fantastic weekend to be a part of!

On Saturday the cheer and stunt teams blew the crowd away with some superb, acrobatic routines and the Street Cheer teams put in some sublime performances on Sunday. The Pom Dancers were typically terrific and the costumes of all of the squads were fabulous, as always!

The standard of every squad who took part in the championships made picking the stand-out performers a difficult task for our judges, indeed. However, our skilled experts have a keen eye for the exceptional performers and were able to decide on a winner for each category. Click here to view a full list of the UKCA Winter Championships award winners.

Of course with every UKCA Competition there are the all important Cheer Spirit Awards. Cheer Spirit Awards are given to the teams who display an outstanding level of positivity, support and spirit throughout the day.

On Saturday, Rayz All-Stars were awarded the Milano Spirit Award after their brilliant performances and unwavering encouragement for everybody throughout the day. Urban Angels were awarded Sunday’s Insure4sport Spirit Award for the positivity they exuded for themselves and their peers during the day’s competition.

The Exeter Cheer Festival 2014!

The Exeter Cheer Festival 2014 was a fantastic way to start November! We had such a great day, it’s brilliant to see so many UKCA members competing across the country. There has been a fantastic response to the event online, especially across social media and we have some of the best comments and discussions featured here.

The anticipation for next year’s event is already growing within the Cheerleading Squads, “Can Not Wait for next year! This Year was such an inspiration! We are back in the gym working hard on all new fun stuff” was shared across Twitter by the Ilfracombe Tornados, keep up with them @ilftornados. With all of their excitement it is no wonder that the Ilfracombe Tornados won the Spirit Award for the second year running – congratulations to them!

The event organiser over at The Exeter Cheer Festival is Sarah Hole, she works extremely hard each year to bring the event together, and what a fantastic job she has done yet again. Working together with Mike Euridge of Exeter Gymnastics Club they bring great atmosphere to Exeter on a yearly basis. Their hope is that the Festival will be included in The City of Exeter “Cultural Programme”.

Exeter Cheer Festival is Next Weekend!

Exeter Cheer Festival is coming your way!

We discussed in August that the competition would roll around soon and sure enough it really has! Next weekend a fantastic Cheerleading competition will take place! We discussed many important features of the Festival in our previous post from August 2014, such as:

“The youngest Cheerer involved in the Exeter Cheer Festival will be 7 years old. Whilst the Masters teams must have 75% of their squad at the age of 25. Here at The UKCA we enjoy the atmosphere at our events when we have such a wide range of cheerers. Whether you are 8 or 18 you are welcome to come along and cheer as we love to see so much spirit!”

However, we hope that you are all incredibly excited for your time there next weekend! We can’t wait! Here at The UK Cheerleading Association we love being involved with other relating events and organisations such as this one. It is so great and inspiring for us all to work together to help to promote each others events and get as many people involved as we all can. Afterall, Cheerleading is “The Sport of Smiles!” Make sure you head down if you love Cheerleading, want to have a brilliant weekend and meet more cheerleaders and those who are passionate about the sport! It is a great way for coaches to meet as well, so we recommend you take your squads down together for some fantastic Cheer networking!

So if you are heading down to The Exeter Cheerleading Festival next weekend then we hope you all have a fantastic time! And good luck to those performing!
