A Busy Start to 2015!

It’s been a busy start to the year here at The UKCA, with our involvement with the This Girl Can campaign, from Sport England. Today is the final day for the entries in the Northern Ireland National Schools & Club Championships, held at the Antrim Forum 9 – 6pm on Saturday the 28th February 2015. This is a fantastic competition as we cover several aspects of Cheer from group stunts to pom dance. Make sure you enter the competition today by following the link here to complete your registration. Spectator tickets are still available for this event, so head along and show your support!

Then of course we have our UKCA National Championships Competition on March the 21st & 22nd March 2015! Download the competition entry form and submit your completed application, as the deadline for entries is 6th February 2015. Spectator tickets are available for this event, make sure that you purchase your tickets soon as not to be disappointed. On the Saturday the competition will hold a strong focus on Cheerleading & stunt whilst the Sunday will showcase pom, Cheer dance and Street Cheer. Make sure that you book your team into the day which suits your skill set best.

We can’t wait for the competitions this year! We love it when the beginning of a new year comes around, as there are so many UKCA competitions & courses to look forward to! See you at our events, we are proud of you!

UKCA Northern Ireland at the World Police & Fire Games

The countdown has begun to the World Police & Fire Games in Belfast starting on 1st August. 3600 volunteers are eagerly anticipating the opening ceremony.

This year’s proceedings include a star turn from the UKCA Northern Ireland Cheerleaders, who will perform their routine to lead on 500 athletes from Canada. The team of 20 cheerleaders from six Northern Ireland clubs has been brought together by National Squad Director, Karen Graham.

The girls have been preparing and rehearsing their choreography hard over the last few weeks to their chosen track, ‘Hollywood’ by Michael BublΓ©.

The World Police & Fire Games is biennial event for serving and retired police, fire, prison and bored security officers. The third largest international multi-sport event in the world and the largest sporting event to take place in Northern Ireland. This year will see 56 sports, including badminton, rugby, wrestling and cycling, held at 41 venues across Northern Ireland.

Kings Hall Belfast

The opening ceremony will be the showcase event and will take place on Thursday 1st August at a specially constructed arena at the King Hall’s complex in Belfast. It represents the official welcome of athletes and their friends and family in a bright, colourful and vibrant carnival atmosphere.

BBC Northern Ireland will bring full, live coverage of the opening ceremony of the 20th World & Police Fire Games. Live pictures will be beamed across the world through online streaming, to access the live stream log on to bbc.co.uk/northernireland/. Coverage begins at 6.30pm (BST).

It’s a true honour for the UKCA Northern Ireland cheerleaders to be involved in this huge event.
