Create a Cheerleading Squad

Are you struggling to find a Cheerleading Squad in your area? Maybe you’ve found a Squad, but it’s a little too far to travel. Or you just want to start up a Cheerleading team of your very own. There are many ways that the UK Cheerleading Association can help you to set up your own Club/Squad.

There are areas on our website that you will find helpful when you are Setting Up a Club/Squad. There are specific qualifications which you will need to have in place before you can officially set up a Club with us. This is because you must be a fully trained Cheerleading Coach to successfully set up a Club. These qualifications are essential for you to be able to teach Cheerleading moves and choreography. Further important measures must be in place ranging from qualifications, insurance, DBS certificate, first aid certificate and club structure information and much more must all be in place.

Setting up a Club of your own can be great to train Cheerleaders for our Competitions. With the Winter Championships 2015 only around the corner on the 5th & 6th December, there’s still time to create a new Squad and compete! Train and practice and come along to Manchester to show us and the Judges what you’re made of!

So if you are thinking about setting up a Cheerleading Club, then you can take a look at our helpful information and get started! We love welcoming new Coaches, Cheerleaders and members to the UKCA.

Sainsbury’s School Games & EuroWBchamps15!

A large mix of sports have been taking place across the UK, with the European Wheelchair Basketball Championships in Worcester from 28th August – 6th Sep and the Sainsbury’s School Games running on the 3rd – 6th September.

Here at the UKCA we’ve followed and supported the events both online and on the floor! Many of our Cheerleaders headed to the European Wheelchair Basketball Championships to show their support, and cheer on the players throughout the games. Fantastic support from Kobika Starlites saw the women’s team go on to become bronze medalists and the men’s team to win gold! Discover more about the European Wheelchair Basketball Championships in last week’s blog. We are proud of you! #EveryRoadToRio #1YearToGo #Rio2016

We have also been involved with the Sainsbury’s School Games, cheering along and showing support to encourage players. If you didn’t know about the Sainsbury’s School Games then here is some more information for you, “Nationally and locally the Sainsbury’s School Games is being delivered through partnerships. The national partnership is made up of:

Over £128m of Lottery and Government funding is being invested to support the School Games.”

More of our amazing Cheerleaders from Team Spirit and The Clarets supported the School games final on Sunday. We’re incredibly proud to be part of these fantastic events, and can’t wait to get involved with future opportunities!

We are proud of you!

Cheerleading Courses in Sheffield!

This weekend we are proud to be holding 2 Cheerleading courses in Sheffield. Both of these courses will be held at the following address:

Hinde House School
Shiregreen Lane
S5 6AG

On Saturday 22nd August we will be running a Level 2 Cheerleading Basic Skills course, which will give our members the skills they need to improve their Cheer. This course will be followed by a Level 3 Basic Stunts course on Sunday 23rd August, to give our Cheerleaders the knowledge and health and safety training for safe stunt techniques – up to 2 levels high! Also taught on the course are key choreography moves. The Basic Stunts course is a fantastic training programme for coaches as they will even learn how to create lesson plans for Cheer training!

Holding these 2 courses across one weekend is a great opportunity for our UKCA members to build their Cheerleading skills and achievements all in the space of just 2 days!

All of our members who are successful on the course will receive UKCA Certificates of Qualification to help them going forward in their Cheerleading careers.

We have many more courses taking place throughout 2015 and we cannot wait to have more qualified Cheerleaders active across the UK. Train with us to learn practical and theoretical Cheerleading skills. After all, you can’t learn to become a Cheerleading coach sat around a table!

See you soon.

Team UKCA.
