Enrol on a Course Today

At The UK Cheerleading Association we strive for the best. By doing this we allow all of our members to upgrade their skills as and when they would like to.

There are many different levels of Cheerleading ranging through pom dance to street cheer. So, no matter which area of cheer you are interested or more passionate about, we can help you to focus your skills on your area of expertise.

Our course finder here easily allows you to source the classes and activities in your desired location. You can also see the existing course dates here. With courses running throughout the UK from Manchester to Leighton Buzzard there is sure to be a class near you!

The courses that we run are not just relevant to Cheerleaders alone, but to coaches as well! Are you a committed Cheerer in your area? Maybe you have considered becoming a coach? If so, why not see where our coaching classes are next running? You could end up in a position where you are able to run your own cheer class. You could even end up coaching your very own Cheer squad! This is a great opportunity to broaden your skills and involve others in a rewarding team activity!

As you increase your skill set throughout the training process and by involving yourself in our courses then you can soon reach higher levels elsewhere in Cheerleading. The more courses which you successfully complete, along with the many certificates which you will receive, will eventually mean that you can compete at higher levels. With the Winter Championships fast approaching wouldn’t you like to compete at a higher level in this competition?

Don’t forget – The UKCA Winter Championships are running on the 6th & the 7th of December 2014!

There is a fantastic opportunity for female coaches from GreaterSport and Sport England. The aim of the coaching bursary is to increase the number of qualified female coaches in Greater Manchester. Before 31st March 2014 they aim to help 100 females in Greater Manchester achieve a coaching qualification in their chosen sport.

Females in Greater Manchester who are interested in completing a coaching qualification to enable themselves to work or volunteer at sports clubs as a coach are able to apply. To be eligible to access this bursary the sports club you coach at must be based in: Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford or Wigan.

The bursary is available for females to complete a sports qualification, recognised by a National Organisation of the sport, CPD courses and officiating courses. The bursary can fund up to 50% of the coaching course, up to a maximum of £200.

The closing date for applications is 14th March 2014. All successful applicants will be required to register on CoachWeb and undertake ten hours of volunteering once they have completed the coaching qualification. Deyes High School Leadership Course

Our leadership courses cover the crucial skills for leading a cheerleading team. This includes communication, motivation, team-building, and health and safety.

UKCA Leadership Course

Deyes High School recently hosted a Leadership course for the UKCA, we received some feedback from the tutor:

It was a really successful day with all the participants passing and ten getting 100% on the written exam, brilliant!

The girls on the course were a lovely group to work with. They were attentive and contributory throughout the day and really made the time there pleasurable.

I think the school are going to have some really strong leaders there who will hopefully develop into great coaches!

It was great to have such a polite and enthusiastic group to work with; they really took everything on board and came up with some great results both practically and in the theory work.

A massive well done is deserved to all those who took part in the course.

A Successful Coaching Course in Belfast

If you haven’t yet attended a UKCA course, you may wonder how it works. Karen Graham got in touch with a report about a recent coaching course held in Belfast. Have a read…

“A further 15 coaches gained their UKCA coach education certification in Belfast on the 6th & 7th April and an enjoyable and spirited weekend was had by all.

UKCA Tutors Karen Graham & Kimberley Clark delivered the syllabus over the weekend to a most enthusiastic and motivated group of adults. Candidates aged between 18-40 yrs attended both Basic Cheerleading Skills and Basic Stunts courses.”

“The Home Country also made history by having their first male coach attend UKCA courses and successfully earn his qualifications.

Gary came with an open mind and got fully involved in all aspects of the syllabus and as a multi-skills coach, he commented on how technical and dynamic our sport of smiles was.

Quote “It looks easy until you try it, there is lots to think about and a lot of co-ordination needed”

What a role model Gary was, come on men – your sport needs you!”
