Penrith’s Ullswater Community College

We love reading about the UKCA’s team’s successes in the press.

Penrith’s Ullswater Community College, who competed and won trophies in this year’s National School’s Championships, have been featured in the Cumberland News.

The squad boasts 41 members aged 11 to 15 and are now plotting how to go even better next time around.

Brooke School Cheerleaders

Brooke Allstarz (primary) and Brooke Twirly Birds (secondary) cheerleading squads from Rugby in Warwickshire were formed four years ago. They started out as lunchtime clubs run by teaching assistants who attended the UKCA Cheerleading Coaches course.

Awards Ceremony

They wowed the judges four years ago at their first Nationals and we was so blown away by their talent that we gave them their own category, Special Schools Disability. This allowed them to compete with their mainstream peers.

The team has won numerous awards at the Special Schools County Championships and Special Schools Nationals so it was a privilege to have them compete at this year’s National School’s Championships at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester.

Brooke Cheerleaders

Following their performance, we received this thank you message from the team:

I wanted to say a big thank you to the UKCA and all its helpers and volunteers for making our trip to the Nationals on Saturday such a fantastic day. You are all so kind, helpful and accommodating which takes the stress out the day for us and means we can enjoy everything without having to think or worry about a thing.

Our cheerleaders were thrilled with their 1st and 2nd places and the trophies too of course. My self and the other coaches were totally shocked with our very unexpected trophy for Schools Development and we are also very excited and thrilled to be recognised for our hard work.

Many, many thanks for a wonderful day.

Sharon

We are glad you’re thrilled with the trophies, very much deserved!

Trafford Community Leisure Trust

We love it when we see reports on the successes of our cheer teams.

St. Michael’s Primary School in Flixton and Ashton On Mersey High School in Sale feature on the Trafford Community Leisure Trust website.

UKCA School's Championships

Both teams, St. Michael’s Explosion and Ashton Tigers, had massive success over the weekend and it’s always great to share cheerleading success with the rest of the community.

A massive thank you must go out to all the teachers and parents who trained and supported their teams and made the UKCA School’s Championship a weekend full of talent.

UKCA School’s Championships June 2013

Last weekend saw the school cheerleading teams descend on the National Cycling Centre in Manchester to compete in the annual school’s championships.

The weekend was brimming with talent and cheer spirit, here are some of the highlights from the competition:

UKCA Banner

Warm Up Area

There’s nothing more admirable than seeing the teams nervous and energetic working through their routines before heading to the mat.

Clown Costumes

Banners

We are in awe at every competition that sees the velodrome filled with bold vibrant colours and team spirit through the team’s uniforms, costumes and banners.

DJ Caino

Our resident compere, DJ Caino does a fantastic job working his magic on the crowd to release that cheer spirit.

Awards Ceremony

And if the excitement of the weekend wasn’t enough for us at the UKCA, we was recently invited to visit the House of Lords. The reason for the visit was to hear the amazing news that the UKCA are receiving recognition for their work with UK schools!

We’d love it if we could get a ‘We are proud of you’ chant going in the House of Lords.

Nationals 2013 – A Big Well Done!

It certainly was a busy weekend for the UKCA team! We would like to say a huge thank you everybody who helped to make this event one of the best yet.

All of the staff and volunteers worked really hard and all of our spectators and supporters made it a very special and exciting experience.

Of course, we would also like to say an enormous well done to every one of our competitors, everyone gave 100% effort and we saw some incredible performances. Take a look at this time lapse video we put together whilst everyone lined up for their awards. It gives you a good idea of the scale of this event!
