A Successful National Schools’ Championship 2015!

We had an incredible time at the National Schools’ Championship at the weekend! The Manchester Velodrome is always bursting with Cheer spirit. Thank you to everyone involved from the Cheerleaders, to each and every volunteer. Both days brought an amazing Cheer atmosphere to Manchester. We are proud of you!

A special UKCA congratulations goes out to the winners of the Milano Spirit Award Fairway Cheerleaders and the winners of the Insure4Sport Spirit Award … The Spirit Award is such a fantastic element to our Competitions because it shows the true Cheer Spirit within the UKCA! You can check out all the winners of the Competition by following the link to our results page here. But who can forget the brilliant mascot dance off? There are just so many fun aspects to the ‘Sport of Smiles’.

What else are we excited about here at the UKCA? The European Cheerleading Championships in Zadar, Croatia of course! Many of our British teams and top performers will be representing us in the event which kicks off this weekend! There has been so much preparation and organisation put into the routines, which really shows in the final performance. Coaches, we are proud of you!

If you are a spectator looking forward to the Competition, then we can assure you that this is going to be an incredible event! Show your support for all the teams and let’s maintain a high energy atmosphere throughout the weekend. The UKCA spectators and supporters are always ready to cheer, cheer and cheer as much as the Cheerleaders themselves! We wonder what banners & costumes they will bring with them tomorrow?

Be sure to look out for our media team who will be posting on the UKCA Instagram account throughout the weekend. Keep your tweets coming in too! You can follow and tag us @UKCheerleading on twitter, also use the hashtags #UKCA and #ThisGirlCan. This means we will be able to pick up your tweets, take a look at your pictures and see what you’re all enjoying. We’ll be retweeting your news and talking to you across the weekend! Like us on Facebook here & follow us on twitter here to keep up with more of our competition news.

We are proud of you!

Team UKCA

Brooke School Cheerleaders

Brooke Allstarz (primary) and Brooke Twirly Birds (secondary) cheerleading squads from Rugby in Warwickshire were formed four years ago. They started out as lunchtime clubs run by teaching assistants who attended the UKCA Cheerleading Coaches course.

Awards Ceremony

They wowed the judges four years ago at their first Nationals and we was so blown away by their talent that we gave them their own category, Special Schools Disability. This allowed them to compete with their mainstream peers.

The team has won numerous awards at the Special Schools County Championships and Special Schools Nationals so it was a privilege to have them compete at this year’s National School’s Championships at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester.

Following their performance, we received this thank you message from the team:

I wanted to say a big thank you to the UKCA and all its helpers and volunteers for making our trip to the Nationals on Saturday such a fantastic day. You are all so kind, helpful and accommodating which takes the stress out the day for us and means we can enjoy everything without having to think or worry about a thing.

Our cheerleaders were thrilled with their 1st and 2nd places and the trophies too of course. My self and the other coaches were totally shocked with our very unexpected trophy for Schools Development and we are also very excited and thrilled to be recognised for our hard work.

Many, many thanks for a wonderful day.

Sharon

We are glad you’re thrilled with the trophies, very much deserved!
