UKCA National Cheerleading Championships 2019

The UKCA National Cheerleading Championships 2019 at Belle Vue Sports Village are right around the corner and the deadline for entries is just two weeks away (Monday 11th February 2019).

The competition is UKCA’s first Cheerleading event of 2019 to be held in Manchester and the first time the event will be held at Belle Vue’s state of the art sports complex. It is one of the biggest competitions of the calendar year featuring Cheer athletes from all over the United Kingdom.

Performances across the weekend will include:

Saturday 23rd March
Cheerleading
Group Stunt
Partner Stunt

Sunday 24th March
Pom Dance
Cheer Dance
Urban Cheer

As well as lots of fun for all throughout the weekend. It promises to be an amazing weekend of Cheer competition.

Competition Entry Fees
Cost per entry: Per athlete £25.00 for first entry – £20.00 for second, third, etc
Cost per helper: £10.00

Spectator Tickets
Adults: £10.00 per day
Children under 16: £1.00 per day

Courses in Wolverhampton this February



UKCA offers an extensive range of Training Courses designed to assist and encourage the development of all attendees. Each course is run by a fully qualified instructor and we ensure that everyone who attends, finishes the day feeling confident and inspired.

Whether starting from scratch, or looking to improve your existing skills, the UKCA can help as courses delivered cover Cheerleading, Urban Cheer, Tumbling, Leadership, Judging, Event Officials, Volunteering, Safeguarding, Sports Injuries, Psychology and Lifestyles.

Between the 18th – 21st February 2019 the UK Cheerleading Association will be holding 4 courses in Wolverhampton covering different areas of the sport.

The first of the courses is a Leadership Award covering Health & Safety, Communication, Motivation, Team Building and Leadership Skills necessary to assist the delivery of Cheerleading activities under the guidance of a Qualified Coach. Successful participants will receive a Leadership certificate of qualification enabling them to assist their Coaches. To find out more about the course click here.

A Foundation Cheerleading Skills follows on Tuesday 19th February. The predominantly practical course supported by theoretical understanding covers: Coaching Skills, Lesson Planning & Session Structure, Health & Safety, Warm Up, Stretch & Cool Down Activities, Cheerleading Vocal Skills, Cheer Arm Motions, Cheer Jump Technique and Choreography. Successful participants demonstrating an active understanding of the course will receive a Foundation Cheerleading Skills Certificate of Qualification. Find out more about this course here.

Wednesday 20th’s course is a Foundation Stunt Skills course where participants will cover Stunt technique up to and including 2 Layers & 2 High, Proper Stunt Progressions, Coaching Skills, Lesson Planning & Session Structure, Health & Safety, Warm Up, Stretch & Cool Down Activities, Body Preparation & Strength Training and Choreography. Successful participants demonstrating an active understanding of the course content will receive a Foundation Stunt Skills Certificate of Qualification. To book and find out more click here.

The final course of the week in Wolverhampton is our Foundation Tumbling Skills course on Thursday 21st February. The introduction to Tumbling for Cheerleaders is a predominantly practical course supported by theoretical understanding and incorporates: Coaching Skills, Lesson Planning & Session Structure, Health & Safety, Warm Up, Stretch & Cool Down Activities, Body Preparation, Forward Rolls, Backward Rolls, Handstands, Cartwheels and Round-Offs. NI National Schools & Club Championships 2019 – ENTRY DEADLINE SOON



2019 promises to be another exciting year of competitive Cheerleading with the UKCA and our first of five competitions is right around the corner.

The NI National Schools & Club Championships 2019 take place on Saturday 23rd February at the Antrim Forum Leisure Centre following the annual Antrim & Newtownabbey Primary School Festival on Friday 22nd. The event will see Cheer athletes compete in Cheerleading, Group Stunt, Partner Stunt, Pom Dance, Cheer Dance, Urban Cheer and Pom Dance Doubles categories.

Competition entries, which cost £15.00 per entry, close very soon (Monday 14th January 2019). Hit the ground running with our first competitive Cheer opportunity of the year – ENTER NOW.

Coming Up in 2019



First of all, we’d like to wish you all a very Happy New Year once again. We hope 2019 is as fun, exciting and successful as 2018. Last year was a fantastic year at the UK Cheerleading Association. We hosted 5 competitions throughout the year, held courses all across the country and welcomed countless newly qualified Cheer coaches.

2019 promises to be another incredible year for Cheerleading with UKCA.

Upcoming Courses

New year, new skills. In addition to our busy competition schedule, the year will bring an abundance of UKCA training courses across all areas of the sport. Our first course of the year, a Foundation Cheerleading Skills course in Stockport has already taken place and there are plenty more to come in the Spring. Our current list of courses are below with more to be added throughout the year.

Team UK

After a huge number of applications (over 100) and subsequent squad announcement in late 2018, Team UK are now preparing for the 10th Cheerleading World Championships in Takasaki, Japan. The competition will take place on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th November 2019. Throughout the year Team UK will regularly train together as they refine their routines in preparation for representing the UK at one of the biggest Cheer competitions of the year.

Team UK Vacancy



Due to unforeseen circumstances we are looking for a senior girl to join Team UK for the Cheer team. We are looking for someone who can tumble and preferably standing back tuck along with basing at a high level. Videos of stunting and tumbling should be sent to teamukapplications@ukca.org.uk by the 28th December and all applicants will be informed by the 4th January if they have been selected or unsuccessful. If selected, athletes will be invited to attend a training session on Sunday January 20th.

Age of applicants needs to be a minimum of 15 years, 16 years before November 23rd 2019. Athletes should have competed at UKCA competitions in the last year.

Team UK will be competing in Takasaki, Japan and costs for athletes will be approximately £1200 with an initial non returnable deposit of £250.

UKCA Winter Championships 2018



We’ve had some incredible feedback from so many of you telling us how much you loved this year’s UKCA Winter Cheerleading Championships!

It’s the first time the competition has been held at Belle Vue Sports Village and what an atmosphere you all helped to create. We’d like to once again say a HUGE THANK YOU to everybody who made it such a successful event.

The highlights from the final competition of 2018 are now live on the Videos section of our website along with all of the highlights from our other recent competitions.
