NI National Schools & Club Championships 2018


The first UKCA competition of 2018 is right around the corner and it could be your chance to start the Cheerleading year in style!

First of all we’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year!

We hope you all had an amazing festive season and rested yourselves after rounding off 2017 with a bang at the UKCA Winter Cheerleading Championships! Don’t get too comfy though, the first UKCA competition of 2018 is upon us and entries close very soon!

NI National Schools & Club Championships 2018

The annual NI National Schools & Club Championships 2018 takes place on Saturday 24th February at the Antrim Forum Leisure Centre. The competition will cover Cheerleading, Group Stunt, Partner Stunt, Pom Dance, Cheer Dance, Street Cheer & Freestyle and Pom Dance Doubles categories. As always it promises to be a fantastic event!

2017 Competition Highlights

After an immensely successful year, both domestically and internationally for UK Cheerleading, we wanted to share all of the highlights with you from our 2017 competition season! 2017 has been a special year and we’d like to thank everybody involved in making it happen!

The season started with the UKCA National Cheerleading Championships 2017:

Followed swiftly by the UKCA Northern Ireland National Championships 2017:

After a blistering start to the Cheerleading season we returned to the National Cycling Centre in Manchester for the UKCA Spring Cheerleading Championships 2017:

Shortly before the European Cheerleading Championships 2017 was the UKCA National Schools’ Cheerleading Championships 2017:

Before our final competition of the year, Team UK competed in the European Cheerleading Championships achieving their best ever results in the competition meaning confidence was high as they flew out to Japan to represent the country at the 19th Cheerleading Worlds Championships in November.

No sooner had the dust settled from an exceptional showing amongst some of the best Cheerleaders in the world and our final domestic competition of the year rolled around. We ended the year with a bang at the National cycling centre with the UKCA winter Cheerleading Championships on the 2nd and 3rd December.

Winter Cheerleading Championships 2017 – Review


This weekend the National Cycling Centre was the scene for the final official UKCA competition of the calendar year. Cheerleaders from all over the country travelled to the Manchester venue to compete against fellow athletes in Cheerleading, Group Stunt, Partner Stunt, Pom Dance, Cheer Dance and Street Cheer categories.

Cheerleading World Championships 2017 Review


This weekend saw the Cheerleading World Championships 2017 take place at the Takasaki Arena in Japan. Athletes descended on the brand new, 3-story, Kantō region facility to showcase their talents against some of the best Cheerleaders from around the world. Last Tuesday Team UK travelled over 5,800 miles to get to the competition but for those athletes representing the United Kingdom the journey to the 9th Cheerleading World Championships began in 2016.

March 2016 – June 2016
For athletes to be eligible for Team UK selection they must compete in an official UKCA competition.

November 2016
Team UK squad selection is announced on the last day of the month.

March 2017 – June 2017
Team UK athletes compete for their Clubs in official UKCA competition.

September 2017
Team UK take part in their first official training sessions.

October 2017
Team UK take part in their final official training sessions before they travel to Japan.

7th November 2017
Team UK and their supporters leave the UK for Japan and arrive in Takasaki to sunny skies!

8th November 2017
Team UK arrive at the Takasaki Arena for their penultimate practice session in the venue where they will compete.

9th November 2017
Team UK take part in their final practice session before competition and meet other athletes from around the world.

10th November 2017
Athletes from around the world take to the Takasaki Arena for the final time before competition day for an event rehearsal. Athletes from Team UK meet fellow athletes and visualise their routines.

11th & 12th November 2017
After months of preparation the Cheerleading World Championships 2017 is finally here. Team UK compete in Cheerleading Junior 2, Cheerleading Senior All Female, Cheer Dance Doubles Junior 2, Cheer Dance Doubles Senior categories. The final day of competition is streamed live on YouTube to people all over the world.

13th November 2017
Team UK are rewarded for their months of dedication with a celebration day at Disney Tokyo!

On behalf of all at the UKCA, we’d like to say a huge well done to Team UK’s athletes and coaches for their superb performances against some of the world’s elite Cheerleaders. Your attitude and commitment in the months leading up to the competition have been fantastic and you represented the United Kingdom brilliantly.

Winter Cheerleading Championships 2017 – Last Week to Enter

 

There’s just over a week left to enter the final UKCA competition of the calendar year!

That’s right it’s that exciting time of year again – Halloween, Bonfire Night, Christmas AND the UKCA WINTER CHEERLEADING CHAMPIONSHIPS! It feels like forever since our last competition back at the beginning of the summer, so we’re especially excited about this one!

This year the Winter Championships take place on Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd December with competition due to start at 9am on both days however an official running order will be made and sent to coaches once the competition entry process has been completed.

Over the course of the weekend, we’ll see teams compete across Cheerleading, Group Stunt, Partner Stunt, Pom Dance, Cheer Dance and Street Cheer categories…and of course the mascot dance-off! It’s not one to be missed.

The official deadline for entries is MONDAY 23rd OCTOBER so make sure your get your entries in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Wow! What a weekend! We’re still beaming after another absolutely fantastic competition!

First of all we’d like to say a huge thank you and well done to everybody who took part in the UKCA National Schools’ Championships 2017 including our wonderful volunteers, coaches and of course the spectators who descended on the National Cycling Centre on mass to create a superb atmosphere for our final comp until the Winter.

As always at UKCA competitions we were treated to some of the highest level Cheerleading in the country with performances from Cheerleading, Pom Dance, Disability Pom Dane, Street Cheer and Freestyle categories as well as a special Disability Group Stunt performance and the crowd favourite, Mascot Dance Off! Your ability, commitment and Cheer spirit makes us incredibly proud to be hosts of such an amazing, competitive event.

This year at the UKCA National Schools’ Championships were also ran a special competition called The Golden Bow, where competitors are challenged to find 6 bows in different places around the Manchester Velodrome venue and develop a chant.
