UKCA January Coach Education, build stronger foundations in stunts and tumbling

The start of a new year is the perfect time to reset your coaching foundations. Whether you are refining stunt progressions, building safer sessions, or supporting athletes to develop cleaner tumbling basics, the right structure makes a difference. UKCA education is built to support safe progression, clear planning, and confident coaching across the UK cheer community.

Buckley Skills Weekend, 10 and 11 January 2026
This weekend at Buckley Leisure Centre includes two coach focused Foundation courses.

On Saturday 10 January, Foundation Stunts Skills runs from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The course is predominantly practical, supported by key theory, and covers stunt technique, progressions, coaching skills, session structure, and safety.

On Sunday 11 January, Foundation Tumbling Skills runs from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. This course introduces tumbling for cheerleaders and includes coaching skills, planning, safety, and core foundation elements such as forward roll, handstand, cartwheel, and round off.

Who can attend

Both Foundation courses require a UKCA qualification of at least Level 2 Foundation Cheerleading or Basic Skills Cheerleading. If you want to attend but do not currently hold the prerequisite qualification, please email UKCA admin at admin@ukca.org.uk.

Intermediate Stunt Skills, 17 January 2026

If you are ready to build on your foundations and progress your stunt programme, Intermediate Stunt Skills takes place on Saturday 17 January at Thorn Grove Primary School in Cheadle Hulme, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The course covers intermediate progressions, including pyramids, extensions, partner stunts, and basket toss, alongside coaching assessment elements.

Winter Cheer and Dance Championships 2025: A High Energy Celebration in Manchester

On Saturday 6th December 2025, the UKCA community came together at Belle Vue Sports Village in Manchester for the UKCA Winter Cheer and Dance Championships 2025.

The day brought outstanding performances across cheerleading, group stunt, and dance divisions, with athletes, coaches, and supporters creating an atmosphere full of focus, pride, and genuine UKCA spirit.

Cheerleading and Group Stunt Highlights

The cheerleading sessions delivered strong routines across multiple levels and age groups, from Tiny Teenies through to Masters. In Cheerleading Level 3, EVC Sapphires Storm topped Junior A, Bicester ECU Starblaze secured first in Junior B, and Clarets Blackout took the Senior division.


Across additional cheer divisions, Fusion Fireflies won Cheerleading Level 1 Teenies, Rayz All Stars Lightning won Level 1 Junior A, and Fusion Infinity placed first in Level 1 Junior B.


In the Foundation divisions, Fusion Flames won Tiny Teenies, Sparklers Eclipse won Junior A, and Apex Cheer New Mills Evenger won Junior B.


Group Stunt divisions also brought exciting performances throughout the day. Notable first place results included Bicester ECU Neptune in Group Stunt Level 2 Junior A, Clarets Halo in Group Stunt Level 2 Senior, Bicester ECU Mercury in Group Stunt Level 5 Junior B, and Stealth Cheer Christmas Angels in Group Stunt Level 5 Senior.


The arena lifted another level during the Mascot Showdown, where Stitch from Rayz stole the spotlight and was crowned the Mascot Award winner.

Dance Highlights

The dance divisions showcased excellent timing, performance quality, and crowd connection across Traditional Pom Dance and Urban Cheer.


In Traditional Pom Dance Level 1, Clarets Platinum won the Senior division, while Spotlight Stars claimed multiple first place finishes across Tiny Teenies, Teenies, Junior A, and Junior B.


Urban Cheer saw Clarets Lil Sparkz take first in Teenies, LCA Phoenix win Junior A, and LCA Dragons secure first in Junior B.


Traditional Pom Dance Level 2 included a strong set of performances across Teenies, Junior A, Junior B, and Senior, with Spotlight Studios Applause taking first place in Senior.


The Dance Mascot Showdown featured Diamond from MDC, who took home the Dance Session Mascot Award and delivered a brilliant final lift to the evening.

Congratulations to all teams recognised for their achievements and their contribution to the event atmosphere.

National Cheer and Dance Championships 2025 – Review

On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd March 2025, Belle Vue Sports Village once again came alive as cheer and dance teams from all corners of the UK took to the floor for the National Cheer and Dance Championships 2025. The atmosphere was electric, the performances inspiring, and the spirit undeniable.

Split into three sessions – Saturday Morning, Saturday Afternoon, and Sunday – the event was a true celebration of talent, teamwork, and passion.

Saturday Morning Session – A Celebration of Rising Stars

The morning session set the stage with an inspiring showcase of younger divisions, including Teenies, Tiny Teenies, and Junior A teams. From the dazzling performances of Apex Odyssey Titan, who not only took home multiple 1st place titles but were also crowned Grand Champions, to the charming energy of the Tiny Teenies like Fusion Flames and Sparklers Elite Mini Strikes, the arena was buzzing with excitement. The Spirit Award went to Cirencester ECA, whose team spirit truly lit up the session.

Saturday Afternoon Session – Power, Precision, and Performance

The afternoon session brought a powerful display of skill and teamwork, particularly from Senior and Junior B divisions. Teams like Apex Cheer Cheetahs, who earned the Grand Champion title with their standout Group Stunt Level 4 routine, and BCC Dynamites Foundation, who impressed in the Foundation Level, showcased incredible strength and coordination. With high-level routines across Group Stunt and Cheerleading Levels 1–5, the session was packed with memorable moments and fierce competition. The Spirit Award went to BCC, in recognition of their energy, support, and unity throughout the day.

Sunday Session – A Dazzling Display of Dance

Sunday’s competition placed the spotlight on the art and athleticism of pom and urban dance. From the high-energy Urban Cheer routines to the sharp precision of Freestyle Pom Dance, the performances were a true showcase of creativity, musicality, and team cohesion. Clarets Vibe delivered a show-stopping routine that earned them the Grand Champion title in Traditional Pom Dance Level 2 – Senior, while Olympus Girls Club took home the Spirit Award for their outstanding presence and sportsmanship across several categories. With divisions spanning from Teenies to Masters, the final day of the championship closed on a high note filled with rhythm, passion, and unforgettable performances.

Mascot Showdown

The Mascot Showdown brought an extra dose of fun and creativity to the weekend, with many teams proudly showcasing their mascots in true UKCA spirit. Among the many charming performances, Rayz Stitch on Saturday and Cirencester Astronaut on Sunday stood out and were crowned the winners. Their energy, charisma, and team support lit up the floor and created unforgettable moments for everyone in attendance.

Winter Cheer & Dance Championships December 2024 – Review

On Saturday, December 7th, and Sunday, December 8th, cheer and dance teams from across the UK gathered at Belle Vue Sports Village for the Winter Cheer and Dance Championships 2024. The weekend was packed with thrilling performances, joyful energy, and the very best of cheer and dance talent.

With three sessions – Saturday Morning, Saturday Afternoon, and Sunday, this year’s event was nothing short of spectacular. A huge thank you to all the athletes, coaches, parents, spectators, and organisers who made the event possible. You brought the spirit, the energy, and the magic to every moment!

Saturday: A Celebration of Skill and Spirit

Saturday’s competition kicked off with Session 1, starting strong with Cheerleading Level 1 Junior A. The morning saw incredible performances across various levels, culminating in the Mascot Showdown, where Harry the Hawk charmed everyone with his enthusiasm. The session ended with an award ceremony, where Stealth Cheer took home the Insure4Sport Spirit Award.

Session 2 in the afternoon began with the thrilling Group Stunt Level 6, showcasing elite skills and teamwork. The day concluded with a fantastic Group Stunt Level 4 Senior performance, followed by the award ceremony. Doncaster Diamonds shone as the Insure4Sport Spirit Award winners, while Sparklers Elite Venom, Savage, and Rogue claimed their Grand Champion titles.

It was a day filled with outstanding performances and remarkable team spirit!

Sunday: A Show-Stopping Finale

Sunday’s competition kicked off with thrilling performances in the Traditional Pom Dance category, where teams showcased their dance skills and energy. Throughout the day, we enjoyed a variety of routines across Urban Cheer, Cheer Dance, and Pom Dance categories, bringing an incredible atmosphere and excitement to the crowd.

The day culminated in the Mascot Showdown, where Star from Spotlight Stars claimed the title. The Insure4Sport Spirit Award went to Spotlight Stars, a true testament to their unwavering energy and dedication throughout the day. The Grand Champion title was claimed by Clarets Vibe, whose stunning performance left everyone speechless.
