Our very own Development Coordinator Anna Melling was nominated as part of the 2017 National Community Fitness Awards and came first runner up in the category of ‘Mini Motivator’ for her work coaching and developing young people in the community. Anna is delighted to have been recognised for her work. Anna is a UKCA coach based in the North East covering Northumberland and Tyneside.

Bethany Hall and Bailey Dunn attended the North East Disability Sports awards on 19th March to celebrate the achievements of disability participants, athletes, coaches, volunteers.

Bethany and Bailey are both UKCA coaches assisting with the delivery of SEN sessions in Northumberland, having undertaken their Makaton training in 2017, they are now able to ensure inclusion regardless of communication barriers within all the sessions delivered by Loud Arts CIC.

The girls were nominated in the category of ‘Service to Sport’.
Mentored by UKCA coach Anna Melling to girls were delighted to be nominated and attend the awards.

Introducing Urban Cheer…


In line with the International Federation of Cheerleading (IFC – World Governing Body), the United Kingdom Cheerleading Association are following new guidelines by offering the discipline of Urban Cheer at all future competitions. This exciting new discipline, which is a blend of popular Urban Dance moves and Cheerleading Skills, gives athletes the opportunity to now compete at Local, National, European and World level.

Q: Why the change?
A: This will be a new category at the IFC Cheerleading World Championships 2019

Q: What are the changes?
A: The inclusion of Cheer Arm Motions, Cheer Jumps and a change to Age Category titles

Q: When will the changes apply?
A: May 2018

UKCA National Cheerleading Championships 2018 – Spectator Tickets


The National Championships 2018 are upon us and we need YOU to help make it a weekend to remember!

All those who have been to a UKCA competition in the past know that they are special events to be a part of. The ability on display from the athletes is second to none the Cheer spirit and unity shown throughout the weekends are a joy to behold. This year’s National Championships won’t be any different.

We’ll see performances from Cheerleading, Group Stunt, Partner Stunt, Pom Dance, Cheer Dance & Urban Cheer categories throughout the weekend with our amazing compères with us every step of the way. There’ll be mascots, Cheer stalls, selfies and music but we need our spectators to make it a truly memorable event!

Come along, make some noise and Cheer our athletes on to glory!

National Championships 2018


The National Championships are back for another year and it’s time to get your entries in!

UKCA’s 2018 National Cheerleading Championships take place at the Manchester Velodrome on the 3rd & 4th March. The two action packed days will include Cheerleading, Group Stunt, Partner Stunt, Pom Dance, Cheer Dance & Urban Cheer performances as well as the Mascot Dance-off and lots of fun throughout!

Coming Up in 2018


After a busy and exciting 2017 which included training courses all over the country, 5 domestic competitions, the European championships and the Worlds, you’d be forgiven for thinking we might take it easy in 2018…But that’s not how we do it!

2018 promises to be another exciting year for the UKCA and it’s already well under way!

Just around the corner are the NI National Schools & Club Championships 2018 on 24th February at the Antrim Forum. Entries are still open for this event, but not for much longer. To avoid disappointment make sure you enter as soon as possible at: the official event page.

There’s no time to waste though as just a few days later on the 3rd & 4th March the National Championships 2018 take place in Manchester.

April is your chance to hone your skills before the Spring Championships 2018 on the 19th & 20th May.

The Spring comp is soon followed by the National Schools’ Championships 2018 on the 23rd & 24th June.

After the National Schools’ Championships is the Summer/Autumn break from competition where we can throw ourselves into practice and skills development. Across the whole year, official UKCA training courses will be held all over the country focussing on all aspects of the sport. Our Course Schedule lists all of the dates of training courses and is regularly updated throughout the year with new opportunities.

The year ends with a bang as always at the Winter Championships 2018 in Manchester on the 1st & 2nd December.

NI National Schools & Club Championships 2018


The first UKCA competition of 2018 is right around the corner and it could be your chance to start the Cheerleading year in style!

First of all we’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year!

We hope you all had an amazing festive season and rested yourselves after rounding off 2017 with a bang at the UKCA Winter Cheerleading Championships! Don’t get too comfy though, the first UKCA competition of 2018 is upon us and entries close very soon!

NI National Schools & Club Championships 2018

The annual NI National Schools & Club Championships 2018 takes place on Saturday 24th February at the Antrim Forum Leisure Centre. The competition will cover Cheerleading, Group Stunt, Partner Stunt, Pom Dance, Cheer Dance, Street Cheer & Freestyle and Pom Dance Doubles categories. As always it promises to be a fantastic event!

2017 Competition Highlights

After an immensely successful year, both domestically and internationally for UK Cheerleading, we wanted to share all of the highlights with you from our 2017 competition season! 2017 has been a special year and we’d like to thank everybody involved in making it happen!

The season started with the UKCA National Cheerleading Championships 2017:

Followed swiftly by the UKCA Northern Ireland National Championships 2017:

After a blistering start to the Cheerleading season we returned to the National Cycling Centre in Manchester for the UKCA Spring Cheerleading Championships 2017:

Shortly before the European Cheerleading Championships 2017 was the UKCA National Schools’ Cheerleading Championships 2017:

Before our final competition of the year, Team UK competed in the European Cheerleading Championships achieving their best ever results in the competition meaning confidence was high as they flew out to Japan to represent the country at the 19th Cheerleading Worlds Championships in November.

No sooner had the dust settled from an exceptional showing amongst some of the best Cheerleaders in the world and our final domestic competition of the year rolled around. We ended the year with a bang at the National cycling centre with the UKCA winter Cheerleading Championships on the 2nd and 3rd December.
