Pioneers Show and Awards Evening 2013

Last week, the Pioneers held a Show and Awards Evening. Pioneers master Ian Wroe sent us this information about the event –

“We would like to send a huge thanks to Caino for hosting the event for us and to president of UKCA Pat Hawkins as the guest of honour. Nearly 100 cheerleaders took part in the show in front of family and friends. Caino did his usual great job as compere and Pat was kind enough to present the Pioneer trophies to the winners. As head coach, Fayhe Mitchell planned a fabulous evening, and surprised us all with a solo performance during the finale. It was a great evening to be part of the cheerleading family”

Exeter to Host South West’s First Major Cheerleading Competition!

Exeter to Host South West’s First Major Cheerleading Competition!

On Saturday 13th July, Exeter Riverside Leisure Centre will be throwing it’s doors open for the South West’s first ever cheerleading competition. Supported by Exeter Gymnastics Club, Exeter Cheer Festival provides an opportunity for Cheer Groups in the region to meet and compete, whatever their level of ability.

The vibrant festival is the brain child of Cheer Coach Sara Hole, “Cheerleading is my passion and I really wanted to get youngsters involved. Our closest Cheer event is Manchester, which is a long way for 4 to 6 year olds to travel, so I decided to organise something local which would be open to teams of all abilities and ages”.

Since it’s launch in January the response has been amazing. Support from Exeter Gymnastics Club, sponsorship from local company DGI Interiors and a community grant from Exeter City Council has given the fledgling event a real boost. Already Cheerleading teams from across the South West have signed up and spectator tickets to the event are selling fast.

Michael Euridge, Director of Exeter Gymnastics Club and keen supporter of the event comments, “Sara’s enthusiasm has motivated the Exeter Gymnastics Club to support and help sponsor the event as part of their ‘Olympic Legacy Policy’ for their Cheerleading Group. I hope that the Festival will become an annual inclusion in the City of Exeter’s cultural programme.”

Exeter Cheer Festival offers plenty of scope for the whole community to get involved and join in the fun, providing opportunities for volunteers (Festival Makers) to help out on the day. The event is being held in association with the UKCA (UK Cheerleading Association) who are providing professional judges for the event, which will be attended by the Major of Exeter.

The closing date for all Team entries is Saturday 18th May 2013. For more details on how to enter a Team in the event, volunteer or to purchase spectator tickets, email: exetercheerfestival@live.co.uk or visit www.exetercheerfestival.co.uk

Street Cheer goes into 32 Thomas Cook Holiday Resorts around the world

We recently delivered a training course to staff members of the Holiday company Thomas Cook, here’s what they had to say about it (names and contact details have been removed for obvious reasons)

Hello Kim,

Hope that you are well?

Just wanted to send you an e mail to thank you again for what was a great training course in Mallorca, it was great to have you back involved in the Street Cheer training and to see the progression we have made. The entertainers who had that training gave really positive feedback about yourself the programme and the concept for the summer season. I think as discussed this will be a great way to deliver the Street Cheer programme this summer and we definitely have enthusiastic motivated staff to deliver this.

The training didn’t stop after you left, I saw the guys practicing the choreography whilst out on breaks and around the hotel. We also had a constant sound of chants throughout the closing presentation, finally finished off with a huge “we are PROUD of you”

Thank you once again.

Mit freundlichen Grüssen – Meilleures salutations – Met vriendelijke groeten – Best regards
