Well Done To Our Newly Qualified Coaches

We’d like to say a huge well done to everyone who took part on our run of online courses this half-term! You smashed it!

Across the week we held an online Leadership Award, a Foundation Cheerleading Skills Course, an Urban Cheer Foundation Skills Course and a Foundation Stunt Skills Course.

All courses held via Zoom included a mixture of theoretical and practical work with successful participants receiving a certificate of qualification and access to new resources in their User Dashboard to help them get the most out of their new qualification.

Sport, music and drama ‘should be part of England’s pupil catch-up’

Extra hours of academic learning – as well as sport, music and drama – will be needed to help England’s pupils make up ground following the pandemic, the new education catch-up tsar says.Β Sir Kevan Collins said it was important to “act quickly” on making arrangements for the summer and that summer schools “had promise”.


Children’s sport ‘will be prioritised’ when lockdown eases

The Government is making plans for children’s sport to follow schools in being a national priority when lockdown measures are eased.Β Oliver Dowden, the Culture Secretary, has said that he will be making the argument to cabinet that β€œkids’ sport should be the last one into the lockdown and the first out.”


Sporting Equals launches new terminology resource

Sporting Equals has launched an important terminology resource outliningΒ whatΒ language the sport and physical activity sector should useΒ when dealing with or describing racial discrimination and inequality.Β Understanding what isΒ and is not appropriate is the first step to helpingΒ us have more confident and respectful discussions.


UKCA Makaton Challenge

In January we challenged our Cheerleading family to learn famed UKCA chant ‘We Are Proud’ of you in Makaton, a form of sign language used to communicate with people who struggle with verbal communication.

In an effort to make our wonderful sport even more inclusive, we wanted as many of our followers to learn the chant in Makaton and share their videos with us.

Winning for Dave a dedicated Cheer Dad

Your extended Cheer Family needs your help.

On 1 September 2020 the Hopkins family’s lives changed forever when Did (Dave), husband and dedicated Cheer Dad to three children, Dylan, Lydia and Sydney was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The Hopkins family now need as much help as they can to raise an estimated Β£150,000 for pioneering treatment in Germany so they can spend more time with Did. They are desperate for the treatment which can extend his life so he’s able to spend as much time as possible with his family and friends.
