UKCA & British Wheelchair Basketball Join Forces

Whether you were at the European Cheerleading Championship in Zadar, or supporting from home, we hope everyone had a great weekend!

Here at the UK Cheerleading Association we are thrilled to announce our exciting partnership with British Wheelchair Basketball. This means Cheerleaders from the UKCA will now be performing at many of the British Wheelchair Basketball’s upcoming events. Our squads along with the routines performed at games will support the basketball teams during matches, as well as enhance the courtside atmosphere with Cheer spirit!

The UKCA President Pat Hawkins expressed her delight by saying, “On behalf of UKCA’s network of Cheerleaders across the country, we are delighted to be working with British Wheelchair Basketball. Both Cheerleading and Wheelchair Basketball are energetic, exciting and fast moving team sports. There are going to be many ways for us to work together, and there is no doubt that today’s agreement marks the start of an exciting and long lasting partnership.”

This partnership will bring about so many fantastic opportunities for all those involved with both organisations. Malcolm Tarkenter, Chairman of British Wheelchair Basketball said: “With just 63 days until the first game of the 2015 European Wheelchair Basketball Championships in Worcester, this is a very exciting time for our sport both within the UK and worldwide. Our partnership with the UK Cheerleading Association will enable BWB and our clubs to continue to drive forwards, offering spectators a fantastic experience – we are very excited about welcoming the UKCA cheerleading family into our clubs and our regional, national, and international events.” Find out more from British Wheelchair Basketball here.
