The United Kingdom Cheerleading Association (UKCA), home to one of the country’s fastest growing exciting sports and world sport leaders Manchester City Council, have today announced a unique partnership to support the development of Cheerleading in Manchester schools over the next three years and host a range of spectacular Championship events in the city in support of the activity.
Aimed at connecting UKCA’s formidable membership base with Manchester City Council’s world class rage of sport venues and event hosting expertise, the three year partnership will not only create a spectacular and entertaining series of events but will also support the development of this sport through schools and community clubs across the city. With the initial focus on regional and National championship, the event programme will ultimately aim for European and World events.

UKCA’s partnership with Northern Ireland Volunteer Agency
The UK Cheerleading Association (UKCA) are excited to announce that they are now an ‘Approved Delivery Partner of the GoldMark project’ through Volunteer Now across Northern Ireland.
Gold Mark is a youth volunteer initiative which aims to promote, support and recognise sports volunteering in young people aged 14-24. It is supported by the Department of Education and builds on the successes of Millennium Volunteers.

Road Shows
In Celebration of the LONDON 2012 Olympics came to a successful climax on Friday 27th July at the OZONE Belfast
The two year Project was part of a major sport development programme in conjunction with Belfast City Council and Sport NI with select Sports Providers.
20 different sports were on offer with Cheerleading being one of the founder sports involved since the announcement of the project back in 2010.
UKCA Northern Ireland were proud to be an integral part of the long term project as a select Sport Provider having delivered workshops to over 2,000 children in all of the Belfast City Council’s Leisure Centres over the two year period.
Cheerleading has proven that it has a major impact to play by inclusion, promoting healthy lifestyles, whilst boosting worthwhile skilled physical activity.
UKCA has witnessed the opening of two brand new Cheerleading clubs in both North & East Belfast as a result of the provision of these ‘Come & Try’ Sessions giving children and their parents a taste of a dynamic sport which has been up to now relatively alien and misunderstood.
It was also a delight to have newly qualified UKCA Cheerleading Coaches from the Belfast Council Sport Development Unit assist UKCA NI Rep Karen Graham on the final day of activity, further proof of the growth and development of the sport in this region and the success of UKCA’s Coach Education programme in Northern Ireland.

Saturday 25th August 2012 witnesses the organisation deliver further workshops through the ASDA ACTIVE PROGRAMME in conjunction with FIA and Sport England.
UKCA Cheerleaders will be demonstrating their skills and there will be plenty of opportunities to try the activity.

A BIG THANK YOU………………..
UKCA lead a FUN “Cheerleading Day” at Banbridge Academy on Monday 25th June.
The day was a huge success with UKCA NI representative Karen Graham leading a full day of pom dance and stunt workshops for the pupils.
Three full routines were taught and performed with great enthusiasm inspiring the pupils to form teams for the 2013 NI National UKCA Championships.
The pupils enjoyed their first taste of Cheerleading and routines were showcased and filmed at the end of the sessions.
“I hope we at UKCA have inspired the girls to start school teams, which I am very sure will be the outcome given the response at the end of special Cheerleading event.”

A huge thank you to Teacher Miss Diane Morrow, who was trained by UKCA in 2009, for inviting UKCA to lead their special event which was to raise funds for the schools successful dance team as they prepare to head to London to showcase their skills with other UK schools.
The pupils and staff made us very welcome.
Thank you also to the local UKCA NI Cheerleaders who attended to share their Skills & Knowledge and also to Northern Ireland Allstar Cheerleaders senior stunt team who put on a demonstration for the pupils in stunting skills and tumbling skills.

The inaugural Schools Festival in Northern Ireland was a roaring success with 120 pupils from local Primary Schools competing for the top three places in the closed championship.
The festival was a culmination of the partnership of Antrim Borough Council, Sport NI and UKCA.
Local schools were invited as part of the ongoing Active Communities Programme which encourages participation in sport and healthy lifestyles, whilst encouraging mutual trust & respect, an integral part of the UKCA Mission Statement.
This very important event was part of UKCA’s on-going LTAD Programme to encourage a sustained growth of grass root Cheerleaders and set a goal to compete at the annual UKCA Northern Ireland Schools National Championships.
This can only be achieved with the ongoing successful working partnerships UKCA holds with local sporting agencies and council authorities.
Schools within the Antrim Borough Council areas were invited to register for this exciting inaugural event and the day proved to be a great success with all teams wining an award.
Antrim Borough Council Coach Samantha Burrell (trained by UKCA) not only choreographed the schools competition routines, but trained the pupils over 6 weeks in preparation for the 31st May event.
Northern Ireland UKCA Representative, Karen Graham, was delighted to be involved with mentoring Samantha and also delivering a stunt workshop. Karen also had the pleasure of judging all performances.
