Warwickshire Schools Pom Dance Competition 2012

The 5th Warwickshire Schools Pom Dance competition took place at North Leamington School on Friday 6th July. The Primary schools performed in the morning and Secondary in the afternoon.

36 teams, over 600 students, took part over the whole day. What a way to celebrate the “Sport of Smiles” and end this school Olympic year.

We were also very lucky as one of the UKCA judges, Kim Clarke, also brought in her Olympic Torch. All the students and adults were able to have their photograph taken with torch – thank you, Kim.

Thank you to all staff, coaches and competitors for making it such a special event.
Thank you to UKCA for providing the 4 judges.
Thank you to North Leamington School, Karen Woldanski and John Farrington – Smith for their help and support.

Matalan Sporting Promise Demonstration with Sir Steve Redgrave

UKCA is pleased to be involved with Matalan Sporting Promise – we are delivering Street Cheer sessions as part of this initiative.

Matalan Sporting Promise aims to get more children involved with sport by offering alternatives to traditional sport, as well as Street Cheer these sports include Parkour, Ultimate Frisbee, Dodgeball and Jump Rope.

More than one hundred children from across London attended a School Sports Day with a Difference with Sir Steve Redgrave on Thursday 22nd of March to demonstrate the new skills they have learned.

Sir Steve Redgrave said: “Matalan Sporting Promise is all about encouraging children to take part in a variety of activities – not just the traditional sports – so it was fantastic for them to demonstrate what they’ve learned at Trafalgar Square today. Sport is such an important part of children’s wellbeing, so it’s vital we continue to support the teachers who are running PE lessons across the country.”
