Professional Development for Coaches
Our courses, qualifications and skills development programmes extend beyond just physical training. We also encourage our members to develop their professional skills and enhance their career opportunities within a competitive job market.
UKCA have launched 4 CPD (Continual Professional Training) courses to cover essential training recommended for all UKCA coaches, their cheerleaders and club volunteers looking to develop their skills. These courses are designed to build confidence, ensure the safety of your cheerleaders and to give a structured and supportive educational background to existing UKCA qualifications.
Lifestyle –
Course Cost £50 pp
Duration 3hrs
The course is essential for all coaches, it provides the following skills –
Plan and manage your work commitments and leisure time
Understand appropriate behavior for elite performers
Understand the factors that influence the effective planning of a career
Successful Communication with significant others in schools and community clubs/groups
Suitable for adults over 18yrs
Successful participants will receive a Certificate of Completion
Under 18yrs, participants must be 13 years + and hold a recognised leadership award.
Successful participants will enhance their assistant coach qualification and receive a certificate of completion.
Psychology –
Course Cost £50 pp
Duration 3hrs
This course is essential for all Coaches and Volunteers. It covers the following skills –
Understanding the Psychological demands of Sport
The impact motivation can have on Sports Performance
The effects of Personality and Aggression in Sport
Participants will be able to assess their own attitudes and mental skills, in order to develop a programme to enhance their own sports performance in schools and community clubs/groups.
Suitable for adults over 18yrs
Successful participants will receive a Certificate of Completion
Under 18yrs, participants must be 13 years + and hold a recognised Leadership Award
Successful participants will enhance their Assistant Coach qualification and receive a Certificate of Completion
Safety & Injury Prevention –
Course Cost £50 pp
Duration 3hrs
This course covers essential training recommended for all Coaches. Skills covered include –
Understanding risks and hazards associated with sports participation
How to undertake a risk assessment procedure
Know the different types of Injuries and Illness associated with sports participation, and learn how best to deal with them.
Suitable for adults over 18yrs
Successful participants will receive a Certificate of Completion
Under 18yrs, participants must be 13 years + and hold a recognised Leadership Award
Successful participants will enhance their Assistant Coach qualification and receive a Certificate of Completion
Safeguarding (child protection)
Course Cost £50 pp
Duration 3hrs
The course covers essential Child Protection training recommended for all Coaches and Volunteers in contact with young people and vulnerable adults.

Recognition of abuse
The Five Categories of Abuse
The necessary skills to protect participants in schools and community clubs/groups
Suitable for adults over 18yrs
