What is SportCheerGB ?

SportCheerGB (SCGB) is a collective body formed from the three long-standing member-based non-profit organisations in Cheerleading in the UK, the British Cheerleading Association (BCA), United Kingdom Cheerleading Association (UKCA) Scotcheer

What are its aims ?

To be the focal point for all Cheerleading activities in the UK/GB including development, training, safety, competitions also SportCheerGB will manage governance and representation of Cheerleading in the UK to the relevant World Wide International Sports bodies.

Do I have to be a member?

No, being formed from the 3 main Cheerleading organisations you will probably already be a member of one of these organisations.

Does it affect my membership with my chosen Cheerleading Organisations?

No your membership, fees and affiliations remain the same.

Does it affect which competitions I can go to?

You are free to attend any and all competitions

Does it affect my insurance cover?

No your existing arrangements are not affected

Does it affect my Cheerleading qualifications?

No all qualifications remain valid

General Information:

SporCheerGB is an over-arching, not for profit, organisation formed to represent Cheerleading in the UK/GB. SCGB will represent Cheerleading in the UK/GB to the relevant International Sports bodies.

each member association will retain sole governance and jurisdiction over its own membership base.
each constituent association will have an equal say and provide equal financial contributions to fund Sport Cheer GB.
meetings of Sport Cheer GB will be held on a quarterly basis, and hosting of these meetings will be rotated around the constituent organisations.
a Constitution for Sport Cheer GB will be formulated and agreed by the members of Sport Cheer GB as soon as possible.
education/credentialing will be discussed as a priority at the next meeting of Sport Cheer GB.
Sport Cheer GB will establish a unified UK-wide Cheerleading team for representation at the ICU World Championships in Olympic years, commencing 2012
In the meantime the ‘status quo’ for the 2010 ICU World Championships will be maintained with each member organisation submitting teams under their current respective titles.
