Scatter Poms:

Scatter poms across the floor
Cheerleaders have 20 seconds to round up as many poms as they can
Cheerleader with most poms – wins!

Developments:
Divide class into 4 teams
Place each team at opposite sides of hall
On the vocal command “scatter” – Cheerleaders must collect as many poms as they can until all poms are collected

They do this in a relay format
1 Cheerleader runs into centre, collects a pom and returns to base
Then the next one repeats until all poms have been collected
Change the use of running to hop, skip, jumps etc………………..

Pom Relay:

Class is divided into small teams
Each team is given 1 pom
Simple relay game where the Cheerleader at the front of the line runs to the top of the hall and back
On their return, they pass the pom to the next person in the line
When all Cheerleaders have completed the course, the team sits down
First team down wins!

Developments:
Cheerleaders stops half way down hall on the way back and performs simple conditioning moves ( ie: 5 star jumps, or 5 squat jumps etc)
On their return to the line, the Cheerleader continues to run in and out of team mates until they reach end of line
They must then pass the pom back to the front of the line by going “under & over”

Pass the Pom:

Split into groups
Basic passing game
Aim of the game is to pass the pom between team members to your side of hall to score a “try”
Opposite team members try to intercept pom
Cheerleaders cannot hold pom for more than 5 counts

Developments:
When a try is scored, opposite team do 5 squats
When a try is scored winning team say a Cheer or Chant

Stuck in the Island:

Lay out 4 mats in the centre of room
This game is similar to stuck in the mud
Cheerleaders walk/jog around the room trying to avoid person trying to ‘tag’ them
When the Cheerleader gets caught, they must go to the “island” and do a set conditioning sequence – 5 sit ups, 5 press ups, 5 star jumps, 5 squat jumps
Once they have completed the conditioning sequence they can re-enter the game Cheerleaders are not allowed to cross the mats when running

General Multi Skills:

Pass 1 pom back and forwards between 2 Cheerleaders

Developments:
Stand on one leg
Sit down
Only use one arm
Greater distance apart
Clap your hands before you catch the pom

Relay:
Set the poms out 1 meter apart
Cheerleaders are put into teams
One at a time they must run in and out of the poms to the top of hall and back
Team with all members back first wins

Add vocal drills to the games to motivate
