Summer 2011 has been a very productive one in Wales especially where cheerleading is concerned. July witnessed the amazing Flint Festival attract 100,s of local school children to get active and show off their skills be it sports and most importantly for UKCA Organiser Ceri Sass, Cheerleading and Street Cheer performances.
The event was opened by former Olympian Kriss Akkabusi and even the miserable weather did not dampen his spirits. Well who would expect anything less, Cheerleading embraces all , (including the weather) raising spirits, all inclusive, making new friends and ensuring lots of FUN.
KS1 and KS2 where at the envy of their older peers as they got to compete in the ever popular UKCA discipline, Street Cheer and they certainly showed off their locking and popping to the eager audiences.
KS3 on the other hand showed off their cheerleading skills as development of the sport continues to thrive under the guidance of UKCA.
The day most certainly was all about participation rather than collecting trophies and the joy and excitement showed in the reaction of the participants, Teachers and Parents.
